IMPROVE YOUR DIET STARTING NOW
With so much conflicting information out there, knowing what to eat for optimal health can be very confusing. Every day a new study is released claiming that certain foods are good or bad.
Apparently we should all be avoiding grains, or eating only whole grains, eating butter, not eating butter, green smoothies are the best thing ever, aren’t they? Even I am confused and I have spent years studying this stuff.
At Nourishing Pantry I aim to make understanding the best food choices simple and of course tasty.

My take on improving your diet is simple: MAKE SMALL CHANGES STARTING NOW
Start from where you are at as a family, don’t let yourself get overwhelmed thinking that you need to make huge changes all at once or that you have to make everything from scratch.
Here are my top 10 tips to get you started:
- Change white flour or white bread to wholemeal or spelt.
- Include a raw vegetable snack each day instead of fruit.
- Stop offering snacks. Everyone will be hungry at meal times, when healthy foods are presented laying the foundations for a life time of good eating habits.
- Include one vegetarian meal a week
- Increase the amount of fish you eat – check out this speedy fish stew
- Make a double batch of your favorite meal and freeze a portion to give yourself a night off
- Switch one coffee per day for herbal tea
- Have a couple of alcohol free nights this week
- Try a new healthy recipe or a new vegetable or fruit
- Switch to full fat milk and yogurt, this is less processed and contains more fat soluble nutrients than skim.
As you can see none of these are big or scary or overwhelming, just make a start and you’ll be on your way.
I’d love to hear what changes you are making so please leave a comment and lets all learn together.

Love the simplicity and making gradual small changes. Will make the fish stew tomorrow. Thanks. Ax

Let me know what you think of the stew – it’s a favourite at my house.
